INTRODUCTORY COURSE

New to paragliding? This is the beginning of an extraordinary adventure !

Objectif du stage

Goals

The introductory course is the first step toward becoming a paraglider pilot! If you are curious and enjoy taking on new challenges, you have everything you need to embark on this new adventure. It is not necessary to have done a tandem flight before this course!

Over the course of this training, we will guide you safely and at your own speed toward your first high-flight, radio-guided by two certified instructors.

We will focus on:

  • Flying safe; the importance of building solid foundations (practical and class theory) before piling up the flights
  • Flying respectfully; of nature, of the people living in our mountain range, of air regulations and flying etiquette, and of your own learning curve
  • Developing your independence and slowly pulling back on your instructor’s input as you take more and more in-flights decisions yourself
Prérequis à la formation

  • Walk approximately 10-15 minutes in order to access some launch sites
  • Be accustomed to hiking in the mountains (only if you want to take part in a hike & fly)

You will also need:

To subscribe to an FFVL license (here), which includes mandatory Civil Liability Aviation insurance (RCA)

How it works

For the first few days, we teach you the basics of gear, ground handling, launch and landing techniques. You will get plenty of practice inflating your wing above your head and controlling it, before getting your feet just a little bit off the ground on a small slope.

Generally, on the third or fourth day, it’s time for your first high flight, guided over radio by two certified instructors.

Mornings are devoted to practical training. After lunch, we review the morning session and supplement it with insights from class theory (flight plan, aerology/weather, regulations…).

We finish the day in mid-afternoon to give you time to process all your learning, recover and be ready for the next day.

Gear

All the necessary equipment for flying is included (wing, harness, reserve parachute, helmet, and radio).

We have chosen brand new lightweight gear to make ground handling and carrying your equipment easier on you. But it’s also to allow you to experience the joys of hike & fly. With less than 8 kgs on your back, we would be able to guide you in your first hike & fly experience if that is what you and the other students in your training would like.

10% discount with your own equipment, certified and controlled (wing and reserve parachute check within the year required), or if you decide to purchase your gear during your training.
